Olubadan of Ibadan dismisses claims of involvement in plot to sack Makinde...
The Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has dismissed allegations linking him to an alleged plot to remove Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, the monarch said the reports suggesting his involvement in moves to unseat the governor were unfounded.
The Olubadan cautioned individuals and political actors against dragging the revered Ibadan traditional institution into partisan political disputes.
According to him, the allegation is not only baseless but also capable of misrepresenting the constitutional role of traditional rulers in governance.
He maintained that the throne remains above politics and should not be associated with any political agenda.
The monarch described the claim as illogical, stressing that no traditional ruler has the constitutional authority to remove an elected governor.
“It is illogical to suggest that a traditional ruler could have the constitutional authority to remove a sitting governor,” the statement read.
He further noted that even local government chairmen cannot be removed by traditional institutions, emphasising that due process as outlined in the constitution must always be followed.
The Olubadan reiterated his commitment to preserving the dignity and neutrality of the traditional institution.
He warned against attempts to politicise the throne, insisting that such actions could undermine public trust and respect for traditional leadership.
