The YBNL boss opened up about his bond with Afrobeats’ “Big 3” and explained why managing artists now feels easier than making music himself.

Nigerian hip hop legend Olamide Adedeji, better known as Baddo, has shed light on his relationship with fellow Afrobeats giants Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

Speaking in a recent interview with Adesope Live, Olamide described the trio as his friends, though he admitted they can sometimes be “too troublesome.” According to him, they are “cool dudes,” but disagreements are inevitable.

“Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy are all my friends, they are just too troublesome. They are cool dudes; it’s just that sometimes many can’t align on so many things and that’s fine,”

On the often-debated “Big 3” ranking that usually includes Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, Olamide made it clear he is unbothered about being left out. For him, the focus has always been on creating music rather than chasing titles.

Badoo also spoke about his transition from being a frontline artist to running his record label, YBNL Nation. In a chat with YouTuber Korty EO, Olamide revealed that managing a record business comes more naturally to him than performing.

Drawing from his years of experience, he explained that being an artist himself has given him unique insight into the minds of creatives. He said this understanding helps him guide the talents under his label more effectively.

“It’s way much easier for me being a music executive than an artiste because I’m an artiste, so I understand the needs of creatives. I know the way we think, I know the way we see things. I know when we are in our element, when we want to run mad, when we’re getting high on our own supply, or high on fame, life, money, and success. So it’s easier for me to deal with creatives. I try not to bite more than I can chew,”.

Olamide added that his role as YBNL boss allows him to recognize when artists are in a good creative space or struggling with distractions, enabling him to offer the right kind of support.

With this balance, the Science Student and Metaverse hitmaker continues to prove that his influence in Nigerian music goes far beyond his own chart-topping records.
