Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, a public holiday to mark the 50th anniversary of the state’s creation, the state government said on Monday.
The declaration was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, who stated that the holiday would enable residents to fully participate in activities planned for the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Talabi said the anniversary marks five decades of Ogun State’s political existence, steady growth and contributions to Nigeria’s national development.
The statement urged residents to celebrate the milestone in an atmosphere of unity and peace, while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to building on past achievements and accelerating development across the state.
Ogun State, established on February 3, 1976, will mark its Golden Jubilee with a series of commemorative events reflecting on its history and outlining plans for future growth.
