A viral post claiming veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died has been dismissed as fake by his family, even as the actor continues his battle with stage four cancer.
Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is alive, despite a viral social media post claiming that the 66-year-old actor had died.
The rumour spread on Tuesday after a Facebook user alleged that Ogogo’s daughter, Haleemah Taiwo, had announced his death following claims that several hospitals had rejected him.
The post quickly gathered attention online.
But Ogogo’s family has now stepped in to set the record straight.
His daughter, Lima Taiwo, took to Instagram to dismiss the report, calling it completely false and urging people to stop circulating unverified information.
The clarification comes just a day after Lima and her sister, Kira Taiwo, made emotional appeals for medical assistance for their father, who is battling stage four cancer.
In a tearful video, Lima explained that the family only discovered the seriousness of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago.
She said his physical appearance had initially made the severity of the illness difficult to recognise.
And the family says they are not asking for financial donations.
Instead, they are urgently seeking access to hospitals, cancer specialists and medical professionals who can help with Ogogo’s treatment.
Kira also revealed that doctors had informed the family that the hospital currently managing Ogogo’s condition could no longer administer chemotherapy because of the advanced stage of the disease.
She appealed to cancer specialists and hospitals to step forward and assist the veteran actor, stressing that the family remains determined to find the best possible treatment for him.
For now, the family is asking the public to ignore the death reports and, importantly, to stop sharing unverified information.
As Ogogo continues his cancer battle, his family says their focus remains firmly on getting him the medical attention he needs.
CBI News will continue to follow the story and bring you verified updates.
