Obi joins others as ADC protest against INEC in Abuja...
A former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, said he joined prominent opposition figures in a street protest in Abuja on Wednesday against Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Obi alongside party members like Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi and Aminu Tambuwal, held placards of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a “Save Our Democracy” protest.
The demonstration followed INEC’s decision not to recognise a faction of the ADC led by former Senate President David Mark.
In a post on X, Obi said he joined “fellow Nigerians, leaders, and members” of the ADC under Mark’s leadership in what he described as a peaceful protest.
“This event was not just an effort to protect our democracy; it was also a moment of reflection on how far we have fallen as a nation,” he said.
He added that Nigerians must resist “the suffocation of our democracy” and warned that “history will not be kind” to those who undermine democratic principles.
