If you’ve been posted to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise, there’s a change of plans. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has temporarily suspended the orientation programme in the state as renovation work continues at the camp.
According to cbinewstv, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the suspension of the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State.
The announcement was made in a notice shared on the scheme’s official X account on Sunday. NYSC explained that the decision was necessary because renovation work is still ongoing at the state orientation camp.
In the statement, the scheme informed the public and affected prospective corps members (PCMs) that the orientation exercise in Niger State has been put on hold until further notice.
However, NYSC assured affected candidates that new arrangements would be communicated as soon as possible. The agency stated that corps members impacted by the suspension would be contacted at short notice with details of when and where to report for their orientation course.
The management also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to both the prospective corps members and their parents.
The development follows extensive damage caused by a severe windstorm at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, located in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State. The storm reportedly affected key facilities, including male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen and staff quarters, prompting the state government to begin rehabilitation works.
While the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course commenced nationwide on 10 June and is expected to conclude on 30 June, corps members posted to Niger State will now have to wait for further directives from NYSC regarding a new reporting date and venue.
