Chippa United confirms it accepted Nwabali’s transfer request despite his 2024 contract extension...
Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has sent an emotional farewell message to Chippa United and its supporters following his departure from the South African club after submitting a transfer request.
CBI News earlier reported that Chippa United announced Nwabali’s exit on Thursday via its official social media platforms.
The club confirmed that the Nigerian international personally requested to leave, despite having signed a three-year contract extension in 2024.
In its statement, Chippa United said it had accepted the goalkeeper’s request and granted him a release to allow him pursue the next stage of his career.
Reacting to the development, the 29-year-old shot-stopper took to his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday to thank the club’s management, coaching staff, teammates and supporters for their support during his time with the team.
In a heartfelt message, Nwabali described his stay at Chippa United as memorable, noting that the relationships he built at the club went far beyond football.
“It was more than a family. To my lovely teammates, dear coaches, amazing fans and great chairman.
“As I stand here to say farewell, a part of me will always remain with this club. I wish you success and happiness in the seasons ahead. Thank you and farewell. Until we meet again,” he wrote.
Nwabali’s next move is yet to be confirmed, as the Super Eagles goalkeeper is now a free agent and eligible to join another club.
