Global software stocks tumble amid fears of AI disruption, but Huang calls concerns “illogical”.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has dismissed fears that artificial intelligence will replace software and related tools, calling the idea “illogical,” following a sharp selloff in global software stocks on Tuesday.
The decline, partly triggered by AI developer Anthropic’s updated chatbot release last week, which stoked concerns over AI-driven disruption in data and professional services, spread to markets in India, Japan, and China on Wednesday.
Speaking at an artificial intelligence conference in San Francisco hosted by Cisco Systems, Huang said worries that AI will render software companies irrelevant are misguided.
He explained that AI continues to rely on existing software rather than rebuilding fundamental tools from scratch.
Shares of Indian IT exporters fell 6.3% on Wednesday, following global losses, with Infosys among the biggest decliners, dropping 7.3%.
CBI News reports that China’s CSI Software Services Index fell 3%, while Hong Kong-based Kingdee International Software Group tumbled more than 13%. In Japan, Recruit Holdings and Nomura Research fell 9% and 8%, respectively.
