Trump had announced a five-day pause in military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, citing ongoing discussions with Tehran. However, Iran's foreign ministry rejected Trump's claims, saying there were no talks and that the US president's remarks were aimed at reducing energy prices and buying time for military plans.
The move comes amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran, with Trump warning last week that he would "hit and obliterate" Iranian power plants if the Strait of Hormuz wasn't reopened. Iran responded by threatening to close the strait and target regional energy infrastructure.
