It’s a “time bomb” right inside the city — and Nyesom Wike says he’s done tolerating it.

In a major security move, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate demolition of an illegal settlement near Karmajiji in Abuja’s Kukwaba District, reports cbinews.tv.

The Minister gave the order on Friday after personally leading security chiefs on an inspection tour of the area. The visit came right after a meeting of the FCT Security Committee.

According to Wike, intelligence reports show that suspected criminals often dash back to this settlement after carrying out attacks across different parts of the capital. And honestly, when you see the place, you get why he’s worried.

“Look at the area. You don’t even know who the occupants are. How do you identify them? How do you know where to locate them? And this is inside the city,” Wike said during the inspection.

He didn’t mince words about what needs to happen next.

“This is a time bomb. There’s no way we can allow this. The FCT Administration will not allow criminal hideouts to thrive in Abuja,” he added.

Wike has now directed the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, to team up with the Department of Development Control to pull the settlement down. He also issued a stern warning — anyone using such places to support criminal activities will face the full weight of the law.

The Minister says this is all part of the FCT Administration’s ongoing push to flush out criminal hideouts, boost public safety, and protect residents. He reaffirmed that security operations will continue across the territory to safeguard lives and property.
