United States President, Donald Trump, on Sunday claimed that American forces had “destroyed and sunk” at least nine naval ships belonging to Iran.
Trump made the announcement in a post on his verified Facebook page, asserting that the strikes had significantly weakened Tehran’s naval capacity.
“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important,” he wrote.
The US president added that operations were still ongoing and warned that more Iranian vessels would be targeted.
“We are going after the rest,” he stated, stressing that “they will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also.”
In the same message, Trump disclosed that Iran’s naval headquarters had suffered substantial damage since military strikes began on Saturday.
Although he did not provide specific operational details, he maintained that the offensive had achieved major success within a short timeframe.
CBI News reports that the development comes less than 24 hours after Trump confirmed that US airstrikes had killed several Iranian leaders, intensifying hostilities between Washington and Tehran and heightening concerns about regional stability in the Middle East.
