The Nigerian Army is stepping up its fight against insecurity with new drone technology, upgraded combat aviation assets and a renewed focus on troop welfare and training.

The Nigerian Army is embracing modern warfare technology as it ramps up efforts to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges.

According to cbinews.tv, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Shaibu, revealed that the Army is investing heavily in tactical drones, improved aviation assets, advanced military training and better welfare packages for troops following a strategic conference held in Abuja.

The Army Chief said the conference focused on reviewing ongoing operations and developing smarter strategies to confront emerging security threats across the country.

One of the biggest highlights is the deployment of additional tactical drones to improve intelligence gathering, precision strikes, operational mobility and casualty evacuation in conflict zones.

General Shaibu explained that the Army is determined to build a more agile, combat-ready and technology-driven force capable of responding swiftly to modern warfare challenges.

He also stressed that troop welfare remains a top priority under his “soldier-first” philosophy, noting that motivated soldiers working in conducive environments are essential for mission success.

“We are not just reforming the Army; we are building a lethal, technology-driven fighting force where only discipline, merit, and mission success matter,” he stated.

The Army Chief also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, defence authorities, service chiefs and intelligence agencies for their continued support and collaboration.

The conference wrapped up with commendation awards presented to senior officers recognised for outstanding contributions to operational effectiveness.
