The Police boss highlights the achievements of the force within the period under review.
Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has said that officers arrested 4,383 suspects nationwide for various crimes between July 31 and September, highlighting a sharp crackdown on armed robbery, kidnapping and other offences.
Egbetokun disclosed the figures during a strategic meeting with senior police officers in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, where he said the arrests included 481 robbery suspects, 260 kidnappers and 371 others linked to violent crimes.
“Each of these figures represents more than enforcement metrics; they reflect lives saved, families reunited, and communities restored to peace,” he said.
The police chief praised officers for their courage, saying the accomplishments underscored the force’s training and commitment to citizens’ safety.
CBI News reports that Egbetokun urged senior commanders to return from the conference with an operational calendar for October to December.
“The quality of your decisions sets the tone for the institution, influences the morale of subordinates, and shapes how citizens perceive the police,” he told the officers.
The IGP emphasised the need for strong leadership, accountability and operational excellence.
