Federal Government presents Letters of Credence to three ambassadors-designate for diplomatic postings abroad.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has formally presented Letters of Credence to three ambassadors-designate, authorising them to represent Nigeria in their respective countries.
CBI News reports that the presentation was carried out by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The ceremony confirmed the postings of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Ayodele Oke to France, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
Speaking at the event, Odumegwu-Ojukwu explained that the Letters of Credence serve as official authorisation from the Nigerian government, enabling the envoys to act in a diplomatic capacity in their host countries.
She noted that such documents are issued by a nation’s leader to formally introduce ambassadors and grant them the authority to speak and act on behalf of their country.
The minister congratulated the appointees and wished them success as they prepare to assume their duties abroad.
The development follows the approval by President Tinubu of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners.
His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier disclosed that the list comprises both career and non-career diplomats, all of whom were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
After their confirmation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commenced orientation programmes for the envoys.
They are expected to begin their assignments once they receive final clearance from their respective host countries.
