Nigeria declares two-day holiday as Muslims mark end of Ramadan...
The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
CBI News reports that the announcement was made on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Muslim faithful across the country on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to the Muslim community and commended them for their devotion and commitment throughout the holy month.
The minister urged Muslims to uphold the spiritual values emphasised during Ramadan, including love, generosity, peace, tolerance and sacrifice.
He also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the peace, unity and prosperity of the country.
While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, the minister advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and remember the less privileged in society.
He further reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
