Nigeria Announce Squad for Lesotho, Benin Showdowns

Chelle names 23-man Super Eagles squad for Lesotho, Benin World Cup Qualifiers...

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has released a 23-man list for Nigeria’s decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clashes against Lesotho and Benin Republic.

CBI News reports that the roster features captain William Troost-Ekong, midfield engine Alex Iwobi, and star striker Victor Osimhen, as the team looks to revive its qualifying campaign.

Also included are goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, defenders Calvin Bassey and Bright Osayi-Samuel, as well as midfield anchor Wilfred Ndidi and winger Simon Moses.

Nottingham Forest defender Semi Ajayi makes a return after missing the September fixtures due to injury. France-based forward Terem Moffi and Russia-based youngster Olakunle Olusegun have also been recalled.

The Eagles will assemble in Polokwane, South Africa, on October 6, where they face Lesotho on October 10 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Four days later, they will return home to Uyo to confront group leaders Benin in what could prove decisive.

Nigeria currently sits third in Group C, trailing Benin and South Africa, with just two automatic qualification slots up for grabs.
