Good news for pensioners in Niger State: the government has finally kicked off fresh payments for retirement benefits and death gratuity!
If you’re a retired civil servant in Niger State, you’ll want to hear this.
The Niger State Government has officially commenced the payment of retirement benefits and death gratuity to eligible state and local government pensioners, reports cbinews.tv.
According to cbinews.tv, the current disbursement covers Batch 12 of the State Government Gratuity, Batch One of the State Government Death Gratuity, and Batch Three of the Local Government Gratuity.
So, where is the collection happening?
State government beneficiaries have already started picking up their cheques at the Niger State Pension Board Headquarters in Minna.
For local government pensioners, it’s been zoned for easier access. Beneficiaries in Zone A are collecting theirs at the Bida Local Government Secretariat, those in Zone B at the Pension Board Headquarters in Minna, and those in Zone C at the Kontagora Local Government Secretariat.
The state government says this is all part of its commitment to clearing outstanding retirement benefits on time and putting the welfare of its senior citizens first, especially those who gave years of their lives to the growth and development of Niger State.
And here’s an interesting twist: the progress being made in Niger hasn’t gone unnoticed. Representatives from some northern states are currently understudying the operations of the Niger State Pension Board, after lauding the board’s strides in managing and paying pension-related benefits.
The government has reaffirmed that it will keep taking concrete steps to improve the wellbeing of pensioners and ensure every eligible beneficiary gets what is due to them, as and when due.
