Group call for involvement of more stakeholders from Niger Delta in Pipeline surveillance contract...
The Coalition of Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities has intensified its call for the decentralisation of pipeline surveillance contracts, urging the Federal Government and the National Assembly to involve more stakeholders across the region.
The group took their protest to the National Assembly, drawing attention to what they described as growing dissatisfaction among communities in the Niger Delta.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Alaye Theophilus criticised the current arrangement, noting that assigning a region-wide surveillance contract to a single company is unfair to other stakeholders. He warned that tensions are already building among communities, describing the situation as a growing cold war.
According to him, decentralising the contract would promote inclusiveness, reduce friction, and help prevent a potential escalation of conflict in the region.
Alaye further alleged that there is complicity from the Office of the National Security Adviser, which he claims has stalled investigations into the contract details. He therefore called on the President to urgently expedite action toward reviewing and decentralising the pipeline surveillance contract currently being handled by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to sustained advocacy, insisting that only a transparent and inclusive framework will guarantee lasting peace, fairness, and effective protection of critical oil assets in the Niger Delta.
