Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, urges national unity in first public address after recent conflict.
The newly appointed Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, has delivered his first public address, urging citizens to remain united as the country recovers from recent conflict and heavy losses.
CBI News reports that Khamenei made the remarks during a broadcast on Iranian state television, where he expressed condolences to families who lost loved ones and promised support for those affected by the destruction caused during the unrest.
The new leader reflected on the personal tragedies he experienced during the attacks, including the deaths of his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, his wife, and other members of his family.
He also spoke about the losses suffered by his sister, noting that she lost both her husband and her child during the conflict.
Khamenei said enduring these hardships through faith and patience was essential, linking his personal grief with the broader suffering faced by many Iranians during the war.
He also praised citizens who resisted external threats and urged the nation to remain resilient in the face of ongoing challenges.
“I lost my father, I lost my wife. My sister lost her child as well as her husband. We have to protect this unity and this is only possible when we are together and we find common ground,” he said.
“Faith and patience are essential to enduring such trials. It is not only about him, it is about every single countryman that has been killed during the recent war. I share this with the people who have lost their loved ones.”
Khamenei added that trusting in God and exercising patience would help the country overcome its current difficulties.
“It makes it easier for us to endure all these plights to trust the grace of God. Patience is going to resolve it. I assure everyone that we will not ignore the fact that we are going to revenge our martyrs,” he said.
He praised Iranians from all walks of life who stood against what he described as the nation’s enemies during the conflict.
