NEMA begins distributing relief materials to Kebbi banditry victims in Shanga, Yauri, and Bunza LGAs, under the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The National Emergency Management Agency has begun distributing relief materials to victims of recent banditry attacks in Kebbi State, focusing on Shanga, Yauri, and Bunza Local Government Areas.
The distribution was flagged off by NEMA’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar, in Birnin Kebbi, as part of the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Relief items were identified following a needs assessment to ensure timely humanitarian support for affected communities.
Traditional and government representatives attended the event. They included Abubakar Umar, representing the Emir of Gwandu, who thanked NEMA for the intervention. Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir, wife of the Kebbi State Governor, also commended the effort, highlighting its importance for the wellbeing of the victims.
CBI News reports that the exercise follows recent violent attacks in Kebbi, including the killing of five worshippers at a mosque in Dadinkowa, Maiyama Local Government Area, during a night-time Qur’anic session. Security forces have been deployed to restore order and investigate the incidents.
