NDLEA intercepts terror drug captagon in Kwara, bizman excretes 45 cocaine pellets...
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it intercepted a consignment of the deadly “terror drug,” Captagon, in Kwara State, while a suspected businessman excreted 45 wraps of cocaine in Oyo State.
CBI News reports that the agency said it also recorded multiple seizures across the country, including over one million opioid pills, cannabis, and materials used for improvised explosive devices.
NDLEA said its operatives intercepted the consignment of Captagon along Bode Saadu road in Kwara on April 21, 2026.
It said the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Nasiru Mu’azu, was found in possession of 10 packs of Captagon comprising 10,000 pills, along with nine packets of Tapentadol 250mg.
Captagon, an amphetamine widely abused in the Middle East, is known for its stimulant effects and has been linked to extremist groups such as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), where it is used to enhance endurance and suppress fear.
In a separate operation on April 24, the NDLEA said it officers intercepted a trailer loaded with concealed drugs at the same location.
The agency added that recovered items included 155,900 capsules of tramadol, 6,000 ampoules of tramadol injection, 3,000 tablets of co-codamol, and 9,000 tablets of bromazepam.
A suspect, Aminu Isah, 24, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
In Oyo State, the agency said it's operatives intercepted a commercial bus along the Ibadan/Oyo expressway. A passenger, Eze Prince Emeka, 33, was subjected to a body scan, which confirmed ingestion of illicit drugs. He was later said to have excreted 45 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.043kg.
The agency said Investigations revealed that the suspect intended to transport the drugs through trans-Saharan routes via Algeria to Europe, after temporarily excreting and re-ingesting them in Sokoto.
NDLEA officers in Edo state were said to have intercepted a truck along the Benin/Lagos expressway carrying 1,196,000 pills of pharmaceutical opioids.
Over 1.1 Million Opioids were also said to have been seized in the state.
The agency said it Officias arrested Two suspects, Osagie Igbinibo, 43, and Omijie Malik, 44, with the consignment reportedly destined for Onitsha, Anambra State.
In other update the NDLEA said in Lagos, a suspect was arrested with 810kg of cannabis at Mile 2, while another was nabbed in Bauchi with 154.5kg of skunk.
In Ekiti, 466.8kg of cannabis was recovered from a suspect’s residence, while NDLEA operatives destroyed 20,000kg of the substance on farmland in Cross River State.
Additionally, 394 components for improvised explosive devices were seized from a suspect in Niger State, according to the agency.
The suspect and exhibits are to be handed over to relevant security agencies, it added.
The agency said its commands nationwide also sustained sensitisation campaigns under the War Against Drug Abuse initiative across schools, communities, and workplaces.
Chairman of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers across affected states for their efforts, describing the Captagon seizure as a major breakthrough.
He warned that traffickers are attempting to revive drug pipelines previously disrupted by the agency.
