From a truck full of building materials to a 75 year old suspect, the NDLEA’s latest nationwide sweep has uncovered some truly shocking concealments.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has carried out a series of major drug busts across several states, according to cbinews.tv.
In Taraba State, officers intercepted a truck that was meant to be carrying building materials from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Jalingo. But hidden inside were huge consignments of opioids and other illicit substances. The haul included 320,840 capsules of tramadol, 600 ampoules of pentazocine injection, 4,500 pills of rohypnol, and 299 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup. The interception followed credible intelligence, cbinews.tv reports.
The operations did not stop there. In Ebonyi State, operatives arrested 75 year old Okebe Samuel at Okposi, allegedly found with 300 grams of skunk.
Over in Imo State, NDLEA officers raided a drug enclave at Umulolo, Orlu. A female suspect, 32 year old Chioma Okeke, was arrested and 8 kilograms of skunk were recovered.

At Uyosa, Chioma Igba, 24, and Precious Ozomah, 22, were picked up with 176 grams of skunk, 65 grams of Loud, and 5 grams of methamphetamine. Along Agbor Road, 21 year old Anita Abraham was arrested with 95 grams of Scottish Loud and 329 grams of regular Loud. Henry Okey, 43, was also arrested at Upper Mission with assorted psychotropic substances.

The NDLEA also confirmed its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaign continued across schools in Oyo, Lagos, Anambra and Kano states.
Reacting to the operations, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised officers and men of the affected commands.
“The War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy activities by NDLEA Commands and formations equally continued across the country in the past week,” he said.
He added that the agency “remains fully committed to dismantling drug supply chains and will continue to target traffickers regardless of age, gender, or concealment methods,” as reported by cbinews.tv.
