NDLEA Adamawa Nabs 58, Seizes 587kg of Drugs

Adamawa NDLEA reports 58 arrests, 587kg of illicit drugs seized and cannabis farms destroyed in intensified September 2025 anti-drug operations.

The Adamawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it arrested 58 drug suspects and seized 587 kilograms of illicit substances during its operations in September 2025.

Speaking at a press conference in Yola, the State Commander said the month-long enforcement drive was complemented by public sensitisation, rehabilitation efforts and the Federal Government’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign.

According to the report, the suspects comprised 56 males and two females. Seized substances included 366.8 kg of cannabis sativa, 209.8 kg of psychotropic drugs and 11.6 kg of methamphetamine and other narcotics. The agency also destroyed seven hectares of cannabis farms and seized four vehicles and a motorcycle used in trafficking.

A major interception on September 1 led to the arrest of two siblings notorious for cannabis trafficking after NDLEA operatives, acting on intelligence, stopped a Honda Pilot vehicle in Lamurde and discovered over 500 blocks of compressed cannabis destined for Mubi. A follow-up search uncovered an additional 40 blocks in Mubi. One of the suspects, Suleiman Mohammed, was identified as an ex-convict. All three arrested in connection with the case are to be prosecuted.

In another operation codenamed “Operation Farauta,” NDLEA officers seized 131 kg of psychotropic substances and a Sienna vehicle used for conveyance. In Mijilu Village, Mubi North, NDLEA personnel, supported by the Nigerian Army and local residents, destroyed six hectares of cannabis farms and arrested five suspects despite resistance from hostile elements.

On the rehabilitation front, the Command’s Counseling and Rehabilitation Unit attended to 70 individuals aged between 18 and 43, offering intervention programmes and reintegration support. Drug integrity tests were also conducted on 25 persons in key sectors in line with government policy.

CBI News reports that the Command appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide credible intelligence, assuring that all information would be treated confidentially.
