Spotted that "official NDC candidates" list doing the rounds on WhatsApp and Facebook? Hold up, the party says it's completely made up.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has come out to distance itself from those lists claiming to show its candidates for Imo, Abia and Anambra. According to a statement issued on Friday by National Secretary Ikenna Enekweizu, the whole thing is unauthorised and didn't come from anywhere near the party headquarters.

In short: don't forward it, don't argue over it, just bin it.

The party's message was pretty blunt, the only authentic list is the one they've already submitted to INEC through the proper channels under the Electoral Act. Anything else floating around social media? Not theirs.

Enekweizu didn't mince words either. He called the people behind it "mischief makers" who are trying to stir confusion and distract the NDC ahead of the polls. He added that the party has started digging to find out where the leak came from and who's pushing it, cbinewstv reports.

"The general public, especially members of the NDC in Imo, Abia, Anambra and other affected states, are hereby urged to disregard the lists... The said lists are fake and did not emanate from the party headquarters," the statement read.

The NDC also used the moment to reassure members that it's still focused on internal cohesion and keeping its house in order as an alternative platform, basically, "we've got this, ignore the noise."

So yeah, if your group chat is buzzing with names, tell them the national leadership says it's not official. No endorsement has been authorised, and only aspirants who properly bought forms and passed screening will be in the real primaries.
