The Serie A managerial merry-go-round keeps spinning, and Napoli just landed a big name.
Napoli have confirmed that Massimiliano Allegri is stepping in to replace Antonio Conte as first-team manager, cbinews.tv reports.
The club announced on Friday: “Napoli welcomes Massimiliano Allegri as manager of the first team.” The 58-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract that runs until 2029.
Allegri is no stranger to Serie A dugouts. He had two spells at Juventus from 2014 to 2019 and 2021 to 2024 and also managed AC Milan between 2010 and 2014 and again in 2025-26. Milan let him go after the side failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
He is not the only one on the move. Since the season ended, nine of the 20 Serie A clubs have changed managers. AC Milan brought in Portuguese boss Ruben Amorim, Atalanta Bergamo turned to Maurizio Sarri, and Fiorentina opted for Fabio Grosso.
As for Conte, he is leaving after guiding Napoli to the Serie A title in the 2024/25 campaign. He is now tipped as the favourite to take over as Italy coach. The former Italy international already had that job from 2014 to 2016, leading the Azzurri to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals before a penalty shootout loss to Germany.
