Drama unfolded in Surulere as Nollywood actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot officially stepped away from the Lagos State House of Assembly primaries, citing intimidation and restrictions against his supporters.
According to cbinews.tv, Desmond Elliot has officially withdrawn from the Lagos State House of Assembly primaries for the Surulere I constituency.
The lawmaker made the announcement in a video that surfaced online on Wednesday, where he expressed frustration over what he described as intimidation and the alleged prevention of his supporters from participating in the process.
“My name is Desmond Elliot. In all zones, they have been intimidating and stopping us,” he said in the viral clip. “This is my ward, and those are my people outside, but they have not been allowed in. So, I am officially announcing my withdrawal from this race. Good luck, thank you.”
Elliot, who currently represents Surulere I under the APC in the Lagos State House of Assembly, had been seeking re-election before his sudden withdrawal from the contest.
The development has since sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the unfolding political drama in Lagos.
