Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025–2026 season...
Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025–2026 season, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year career at Anfield.
CBI News reports that the 33-year-old forward made the announcement in a video shared on social media, with the club later issuing a statement confirming that both parties had agreed to end his contract a year early.
“Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell… I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season,” Salah said.
Salah, who joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, had only recently signed a contract extension in April 2025 that was set to run until 2027.
Reflecting on his time with the club, the Egyptian star spoke emotionally about his bond with the team and its supporters.
“Liverpool is not just a football club. It's a passion. It's a history. It's a spirit,” he said.
During his time at Anfield, Salah established himself as one of the club’s greatest-ever players, scoring 255 goals in 435 appearances making him third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list.
His achievements include multiple major honours, such as two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League, along with domestic cups and international trophies.
Liverpool described his departure as the close of a “remarkable nine-year chapter,” noting that Salah chose to announce his decision early to give clarity to fans.
Despite confirming his exit, the club stated that Salah remains focused on finishing the current campaign strongly, with tributes expected as he prepares to bid farewell to Anfield later this year.
