From vulnerability to victory — a UN-backed programme is helping people in CAR rewrite their stories through skills, dignity, and self-reliance.
According to cbinews.tv, the Community Violence Reduction Programme supported by the United Nations mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) is quietly changing lives by giving vulnerable people a real shot at rebuilding their future through vocational training and economic empowerment.
In Bimbo, one story stands out — that of Brice Nzambé, a man living with a disability whose life has taken a remarkable turn. After completing tailoring training in 2023 under the programme, Brice didn’t just learn a skill; he built a livelihood. By the following year, he had opened his own tailoring workshop and is now the proud employer of five apprentices, including three women.
Brice describes the experience as life changing. He says the training didn’t only give him financial independence, it also reshaped how he sees himself. Instead of being viewed or feeling like someone dependent on charity, he is now self-sufficient and able to support others in his community.
One of those he has helped mentor is Anastasie Olga Bengué. Inspired by Brice’s journey, she joined the programme, completed her practical training, and has since gone on to open her own tailoring workshop as well. For her, meeting Brice was the motivation she needed to take the leap toward independence.
