Old Trafford is backing one of its own! Manchester United have officially handed Michael Carrick a new two-year contract after guiding the Red Devils back into the Champions League in stunning fashion.
According to cbinews.tv, Manchester United have confirmed that Michael Carrick will remain at Old Trafford as head coach after signing a new two-year deal with the club.
Carrick, who stepped into the role in January following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, initially took charge until the end of the season. However, after an impressive turnaround that saw United secure a top-three Premier League finish and a return to Champions League football, the club have now rewarded him with the job on a permanent basis.
When Carrick arrived, United were sitting seventh in the table. Fast forward a few months, and Sunday’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest sealed third place with one game still left to play.
The former United midfielder has enjoyed a brilliant start to life in the dugout, winning 11 of his 16 matches in charge, drawing three and losing just twice. Fans were especially delighted with standout victories over rivals Manchester City and Arsenal during a memorable four-match winning streak.
According to cbinews.tv, United’s form under Carrick has been among the best in the league, with the club collecting 36 points from a possible 48 since his appointment. His impressive impact has also earned him a nomination for the Premier League Manager of the Season award.
Carrick is no stranger to success at Old Trafford. During his playing days, he won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and several other major honours with Manchester United.
After retiring, he joined the club’s coaching staff in 2018 under Jose Mourinho and later worked alongside Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Carrick then moved to Middlesbrough in 2022 for his first managerial role, guiding the club to the Championship play-offs and a Carabao Cup semi-final before leaving in June 2025.
Meanwhile, reports suggest Manchester United are still sorting out paperwork for members of the current backroom staff, including Steve Holland and Jonathan Woodgate, to remain at the club.
