Argentine superstar Lionel Messi scored the 900th goal of his career on Wednesday but could not prevent Inter Miami CF from being eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Messi netted his landmark goal after just seven minutes to give Miami a 1 0 lead in their round of 16 clash against fellow Major League Soccer side Nashville SC.
However, Cristian Espinoza struck in the 74th minute to level the tie at 1 1 on aggregate. Nashville then held firm for the remainder of the match to secure progression to the quarter finals on the away goals rule.
