Marco Rose appointed AFC Bournemouth head coach on a three-year deal...
Marco Rose has been appointed as the new head coach of AFC Bournemouth on a three-year contract, with the German set to replace Andoni Iraola at the end of the current season.
CBI News reports that Bournemouth confirmed earlier this month that Andoni Iraola will leave the club after deciding not to extend his stay, prompting the Premier League side to move quickly for a successor.
Rose, 49, was among a shortlist that also included Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna and Rayo Vallecano boss Inigo Perez before Bournemouth settled on the former RB Leipzig coach.
He has been out of management since leaving RB Leipzig in March 2025 and will take charge of his first English club when he officially begins work in the summer.
In a statement, Bournemouth said: “Everyone at AFC Bournemouth looks forward to welcoming Marco to Vitality Stadium as he begins his role as head coach in the summer.”
The club added that its immediate focus remains on finishing the current season strongly, highlighting their ongoing 13-game unbeaten run and push for a strong Premier League finish.
Rose brings significant experience from Germany and Austria, having previously managed Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Red Bull Salzburg, where he won league titles and domestic cups.
He also won the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup during his time with RB Leipzig.
Bournemouth currently sit eighth in the Premier League table and are in contention for European qualification, setting up a potentially important debut season for Rose when he arrives.
