A fitting farewell for a football mastermind — Manchester City immortalise Pep Guardiola with a stadium stand, statue, and legacy that will echo for generations.
Manchester City are giving their long-serving manager a send-off worthy of his incredible impact, with the club set to rename the North Stand at the Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium in honour of Pep Guardiola.
According to cbinews.tv, the newly redeveloped section will officially be called “The Pep Guardiola Stand”, and it will be unveiled during Guardiola’s final match in charge — a Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday, closing the 2025/26 season.
After a remarkable decade at the club, Guardiola is stepping down having delivered an astonishing 20 trophies, shaping what many consider the most successful era in Manchester City’s history.
And the tributes don’t stop there. The club has also confirmed plans for a statue of the iconic manager to be installed outside the stadium, ensuring his legacy is quite literally set in stone.
City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed praised Guardiola’s influence, describing him as the embodiment of the club’s ambition over the past 10 years, while highlighting the deep appreciation felt across the entire City family.
Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak added that the stand and statue would permanently weave Guardiola’s story into the fabric of Manchester and English football, reflecting both his achievements and his unique bond with supporters.
Meanwhile, chief executive Ferran Soriano noted the timing of the unveiling, saying fans will get to experience the upgraded stand — now adding over 7,000 extra seats — for the very first time on a truly historic day.
Alongside the stadium expansion, the wider Etihad redevelopment includes Medlock Square, a new hotel, museum, retail spaces, offices, restaurants and entertainment areas, transforming the site into a full fan destination.
It’s not just a goodbye — it’s a celebration of a football legacy that has redefined a club and left its mark on the Premier League forever.
