From Royal Antwerp to Old Trafford's number one, the 23-year-old Belgian didn't just settle in, he took over.
It's official, and cbinewstv called it first, United's summer gamble on Senne Lammens has paid off spectacularly.
The Premier League confirmed on its X handle on Monday that Lammens beat a stacked field to win the award after a vote involving fans, fellow players and managers. Not bad for a keeper who only landed from Royal Antwerp last summer.
Why did he win it? Simple. Week after week he looked like he'd been playing in England for years. Commanding in the box, calm under pressure, and pulling off the sort of saves that turn draws into wins. He quickly became a proper fan favourite at United, and his consistency gave the whole back line a lift.
Lammens was typically modest about it.
"It is a special feeling to win this award in my first season in the Premier League. I want to thank my teammates, the coaching staff and the supporters for their belief in me throughout the campaign," he said.
He was quick to share the credit too: "Individual awards are always nice, but football is a team sport. This recognition would not have been possible without the players around me and everyone working behind the scenes at the club."
United's manager was even more direct in his praise: "Senne has been outstanding from the moment he arrived. His professionalism, work ethic and performances have been exceptional, and he fully deserves this recognition."
For a debut season, it's about as good as it gets, and it underlines why so many now rate Lammens as one of the most promising keepers in the league.
