Manchester City will face Liverpool F.C. in a headline FA Cup quarter-final clash following Monday’s draw for the last eight of the competition.
The draw also produced other intriguing fixtures, with Arsenal F.C. set to travel to Southampton F.C., while Chelsea F.C. will host League One side Port Vale F.C..
City’s meeting with Liverpool is widely regarded as the standout tie of the quarter-final stage, setting up another high-profile encounter between the Premier League rivals.
The team managed by Pep Guardiola has already defeated Liverpool twice this season, recording a 3–0 victory in Manchester in November before securing a 2–1 win at Anfield in February.
CBI News reports that the upcoming fixture will mark the first FA Cup meeting between the two clubs since 2022, when Liverpool defeated City 3–2 in the semi-finals of the competition.
Liverpool, who progressed to the quarter-finals after beating Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. 3–1 in the fifth round, have won the FA Cup eight times, with their most recent triumph coming in 2022.
Seven-time winners Manchester City reached the last eight after a 3–1 victory over Newcastle United F.C. and last lifted the trophy in 2023.
Elsewhere, Premier League leaders Arsenal secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 2–1 win against Mansfield Town F.C..
The side managed by Mikel Arteta will now travel to face Southampton, who booked their place in the next round after a surprise 1–0 victory over Fulham F.C..
Meanwhile, Chelsea were handed a home tie against Port Vale.
The League One club advanced to the quarter-finals after producing a shock 1–0 win against Sunderland A.F.C..
The final quarter-final fixture will see the winner of the tie between West Ham United and Brentford F.C. host Leeds United F.C..
