Ilaka confirmed his readiness to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo state...
A former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate and ex Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Chief Bisi Ilaka, has confirmed his resignation as a member of the PDP.
Ilaka confirmed his defection on Thursday.
He said that his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, followers, supporters and stakeholders across the state.
Ilaka revealed that while the decision was not taken lightly, it had become necessary in view of his political convictions and future aspirations.
The lawyer served as Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde during the governor’s first term and was the PDP senatorial candidate for Oyo Central in the 2023 general election.
He has remained an influential voice within the party in Oyo politics until his latest political move.
Speaking on his next steps, Ilaka confirmed that he had resolved to continue his political journey with the ADC, describing the party as a platform that aligns with his vision for grassroots development.
His resignation letter made available to party excos "says": “It is with the utmost humility that I tender the resignation of membership from the People Democratic Party.
“I am eternally grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by the party and the unalloyed support given to me over the years. Till we meet again.”
