Governor Makinde says successor will emerge through loyalty to Oyo State not him...
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that the success of the next administration in the state must be anchored on loyalty to Oyo and not to him as an individual.
Governor Makinde stated this at the 12th Omituntun Ramadan Lecture.
He stressed that competence, integrity and commitment to the collective interest of Oyo State must guide the choice of his successor in 2027, noting that governance should not revolve around personal allegiance but service to the people.
The governor approved the donation of one bus each to seven selected mosques across the seven geopolitical zones of the state to support the propagation of Islam in the spirit of Ramadan.
He appreciated the Muslim community for its prayers and continued support for his administration.
The governor also approved an increase in the monthly payment for pensions and gratuities from #1 billion to #3 billion, with immediate effect, to clear backlog and current entitlements of retirees.
He assured that by May 29, 2027, when he leaves office, no pension or gratuity would be owed by the state government.
Makinde further pledged that necessary arrangements would be put in place to ensure the smooth airlifting of Oyo State pilgrims directly from Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan, to Saudi Arabia.
