Labour welcomes INEC recognition of Interim Leadership for party...
The Labour Party on Saturday welcomed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s recognition of an interim national leadership led by Senator Nenadi Usman, describing it as a positive step.
Ken Eluma Asogwa, senior special adviser on media to the interim national chairman, said in a statement that the recognition complied with a recent Federal High Court judgment ordering INEC to acknowledge the Usman-led leadership as the party’s legitimate authority.
He said the party appreciated INEC’s leadership for adhering to the law and constitutional provisions, adding that the decision would help end years of internal disputes and uncertainty.
Asogwa called on party members nationwide to unite behind the interim leadership as it works to reposition the party ahead of future elections.
He said the Labour Party remained committed to offering Nigerians a credible opposition platform, stressing that unity and collective effort were essential to achieving that goal.
Asogwa also praised the judiciary for upholding justice and thanked supporters and the media for their continued backing, saying the party would work to rebuild its structures nationwide and return to winning ways before the next election cycle.
