Liverpool have stolen a march on Newcastle United in the race for highly-rated Spanish forward Victor Munoz.
According to reports monitored by cbinewstv, Liverpool have successfully agreed a deal to sign Spanish forward Victor Munoz from Osasuna for a reported £34.5 million (£45.5 million).
The 22-year-old, who is currently away on World Cup duty with Spain, reportedly completed his medical at the national team’s training base in Tennessee and has agreed a six-year contract with the Premier League giants.
Munoz is set to become the first signing under new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola, who recently took over, following the departure of Arne Slot.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Liverpool confirmed that an agreement had been reached, subject to the player receiving a work permit and international clearance.
The move comes as a major blow to Newcastle United, who had been in advanced discussions to bring Munoz to St James’ Park after Anthony Gordon’s transfer to Barcelona. Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen were also reportedly keeping tabs on the talented attacker.
However, Liverpool moved decisively by activating the release clause in Munoz’s contract, convincing the player to choose Anfield as his next destination.
Munoz enjoyed an impressive campaign with Osasuna last season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances. His versatility across both wings is expected to help Liverpool cope with the significant gap left by Mohamed Salah’s summer exit.
The Spanish international began his football journey at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy before joining Real Madrid, where first-team opportunities were limited. He later moved to Osasuna in July 2025 and quickly established himself as one of Spain’s brightest young attacking talents.
Having earned two senior caps for Spain since making his debut in March, Munoz is expected to join his new Liverpool teammates once his World Cup commitments are complete.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s summer recruitment drive may not be over yet. The Reds are also believed to be monitoring teenage forward Yan Diomande, who currently plays for Leipzig and is representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
