This week, the US military began a blockade of Iranian ports, as the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains a key sticking point in negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Iran has warned it could disrupt trade routes in the Red Sea, as well as the Gulf and the Sea of Oman, if the blockade continues.
Meanwhile, a high-level delegation led by Pakistan’s army chief has held talks with Iranian officials on the possibility of a new round of negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
