Lagos Fire Service says two Overnight Fire incidents in Agege and Yaba contained...
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Sunday said it had successfully contained two separate fire incidents that broke out overnight in different parts of the state, with no casualties recorded.
The first fire was reported at 22:46 on Saturday at Tower Aluminum Village along Abeokuta Expressway in Dopemu, Agege. Firefighters from Ikeja and Agege stations responded swiftly, bringing the blaze under control after it affected multiple offices and stores of varying sizes within the premises.
Authorities said the structures, covering about 2,592 square metres within a four-acre property, suffered significant damage to sections and their contents.
The second incident occurred around 03:15 on Sunday at a three-storey commercial building on Oyabiyi Street, opposite the NLC office in Tejuosho, Yaba. The building, which housed shops stocked with textile materials, was engulfed by fire.
Emergency crews from Somolu, Ilupeju and Sari Iganmu stations were deployed and contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.
The agency said both incidents were handled professionally and promptly, averting escalation.
Controller General Margaret Adeseye urged the public to observe fire safety precautions, particularly in commercial areas where flammable materials are stored.
Investigations into the causes of the fires are ongoing.
