Falling revenue and grounded aircraft weigh on performance after prior year profit.
Kenya Airways on Tuesday reported a pre tax loss of 17.93 billion shillings, equivalent to $138.3 million, in 2025, citing a drop in revenue.
The result marks a setback for one of Africa’s leading airlines after it posted its first pre tax profit in over a decade in 2024.
The airline said total income fell to 161.47 billion shillings from 188.50 billion shillings the previous year.
Chief Financial Officer Mary Mwenga said the decline was partly due to three of its wide body Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner jets being temporarily grounded because of global supply chain constraints.
The airline’s 2024 profit had been supported by foreign exchange gains, as the Kenyan shilling strengthened by more than 20 percent against the US dollar.
