Residents in several parts of Kebbi State, Northwest Nigeria are groaning under worsening electricity outages that have left many communities in darkness for months.

CBI News notes that the persistent blackout, affecting multiple local government areas, has reportedly crippled homes, shops, and small-scale businesses, with residents describing the situation as more than just occasional power failure.

CBINews reports that many communities now experience little or no electricity supply for weeks, worsening living conditions and increasing economic struggles across the state.

Small business owners say the prolonged outage is threatening their survival, especially for enterprises that rely heavily on electricity for refrigeration, cold storage, and daily operations.

Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), the power distribution company responsible for supplying electricity to Kebbi, Kaduna, Sokoto, and Zamfara states, has continued to face criticism over unstable power supply, frequent load shedding, and inadequate electricity distribution in Kebbi communities.

Albeit, KAEDCO has repeatedly blamed low national grid allocation, transmission challenges, and revenue shortfalls for the recurring outages, residents insist the situation has become unbearable.

The worsening electricity crisis is now raising fears over business closures, rising unemployment, and deeper economic decline in affected communities.
