Kebbi APC Unites Behind Ex-Governor Adamu Aliero for Senate Race

A show of unity and political maturity played out in Kebbi as the APC rallied behind former governor and serving senator, Muhammad Adamu Aliero, for the Kebbi Central Senate seat.
Former Kebbi State Governor and current senator, Muhammad Adamu Aliero, has officially emerged as the consensus candidate of the APC for Kebbi Central Senatorial District following the party’s primary election held in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
The atmosphere at the Haliru Abdu Stadium was filled with celebration after other aspirants stepped down for Aliero following consultations with party leaders and stakeholders — a move many party members described as a strong signal of unity within the APC in Kebbi State.
Speaking after his emergence, Aliero thanked Governor Nasir Idris, party executives, delegates and supporters for standing by him and ensuring a peaceful process.
According to him, the outcome of the primary proves that the APC in Kebbi remains united and focused on victory ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aliero also assured supporters that he would continue pushing for policies and programmes that directly impact the people, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and infrastructure development.
Governor Nasir Idris, who attended the primary, praised aspirants who stepped aside in the interest of party unity, particularly Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant, who withdrew from the race in support of Aliero.
The governor also commended the reconciliation committee led by former governor Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari for resolving disagreements among aspirants across the state’s senatorial districts.
Meanwhile, APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, formally declared Aliero as the party’s consensus candidate after confirming the withdrawal of all other contenders.
Supporters at the venue erupted in cheers as the former governor was affirmed as the APC flag bearer for Kebbi Central.
