Committee pushes for mediation, as it reveals the list it got contains 48 names...
The Katsina State Administration of Criminal Justice Committee has refuted claims that dozens of suspects linked to banditry and kidnapping were released by the courts, insisting that no such approval was granted.
The Chairman of the Committee and Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Abubakar, says the committee received a list containing 48 names, not 70, of suspects connected to banditry and kidnapping-related offences for possible consideration.
Justice Abubakar explains that the committee objected to any form of release and instead advised the adoption of a Victim–Offender Mediation mechanism, in line with provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice framework.
Speaking in an interview with CBI News in Katsina, the Chief Judge further clarified that no court in Katsina State has released any suspect involved in banditry or kidnapping.
