Big news from Katsina! Governor Dikko Radda has just unlocked a whopping ₦4 billion for communities, women, and schools – and every single ward in the state is set to benefit.

Governor Dikko Radda is putting his money where his mouth is when it comes to grassroots development.

According to cbinews.tv, the Governor has approved the release of ₦4 billion for the second phase of the Community Development Programme (CDP). The decision was taken at the 12th Regular Meeting of the Katsina State Executive Council for 2026, held on Wednesday at the Muhammadu Buhari Government House and chaired by the Governor himself.

So, what does this actually mean?

Well, each of the 361 wards across Katsina State will get ₦10 million to fund projects chosen by the people themselves. Yes, you heard that right – communities get to decide what they really need.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information, Bala Zango, said the Council approved a raft of strategic plans focused on community development, women’s empowerment, education and better public service.

Giving more detail, CDP Coordinator Kamaladden Kabir said the approval follows the huge success of the first phase.

“The release of these funds demonstrates Governor Radda’s commitment to grassroots development by empowering communities to identify and execute projects that have direct impact on the lives of the people,” he said.

And there’s more good news for women.

The Council also approved the 2026 counterpart funding for the Nigeria for Women Project – an initiative that helps poor and vulnerable women through economic empowerment, social inclusion and access to finance. Zango noted that Katsina is now one of the top-performing states in the programme, thanks to the administration’s focus on women.

“The approval reinforces the administration’s determination to empower women economically, promote financial inclusion, and improve household livelihoods across Katsina State,” he said.

Education is not left out either. The Council approved the supply and installation of Smart School IT infrastructure at the new Model Secondary Schools in Jikamshi and Dumurkul.

According to Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Yusuf Jibia, the schools will be kitted out with smart classrooms, interactive digital boards, campus-wide ICT networks and other modern facilities to prepare students to compete in a 21st-century digital world.

On the economic front, Economic Adviser Kahlil Khalil revealed that the 2025 Business Enabling Reform Action Plan (BERAP) Progress Report will now be published under the SABER Programme – a move to boost transparency, ease of doing business and attract investment.

“The publication of the BERAP Progress Report demonstrates Katsina State’s continued commitment to institutional reforms that enhance transparency, improve the investment climate, and stimulate economic growth,” he stated.

Finally, on water supply, Permanent Secretary for Water Resources, Malam Dasuki Abubakar, said the Council approved the procurement of water treatment chemicals for Q2 2026. He added that water tankers will be deployed across Katsina metropolis during the two-week rehabilitation of the state waterworks to ensure no one goes without water.

From wards to women, classrooms to clean water – it’s clear Governor Radda is pushing hard on his agenda for inclusive growth and better services.
