Officers would conduct visits to traditional rulers, religious leaders and community heads, as well as organise town hall meetings and sporting activities within their areas of responsibility.
The Police Command in Kano State has launched a public sensitisation campaign aimed at tackling thuggery and illicit drug trafficking across the state.
CBI News reports that the initiative follows directives by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to strengthen community participation in crime prevention.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Kano by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ibrahim Bakori, has directed officers to intensify public engagement across communities.
Bakori said officers would conduct visits to traditional rulers, religious leaders and community heads, as well as organise town hall meetings and sporting activities within their areas of responsibility.
“The Command is committed to proactive policing through sustained dialogue and partnership with the public,” the commissioner said.
He commended community leaders and residents for their continued support in ongoing crime-fighting efforts across the state.
Bakori urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or contact the command through their hotlines.
