So, Governor Abba Yusuf has revealed that Kano State is set to unveil its very own commercial airline, and the whole idea behind it is actually brilliant.

Speaking during the 40th Executive Council Meeting at the Government House in Kano, the Governor said the airline is being created to finally give our home-grown, qualified pilots a place to work. You know, all those brilliant young indigenes who have finished their professional pilot training but are still hunting for jobs.

It was quite a moment for him too, as he was receiving multiple awards at the meeting, including a special honour from the Kano State Pilot Association for supporting them through aviation school.

According to a statement released on Thursday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, and as first reported by **cbinews.tv**, the Governor is not wasting time.

“By the grace of God, the proposed Kano Airline will commence operations within the next one year. We are committed to providing all the necessary support to actualise the project and ensure its successful operation,” Yusuf said.

He also had high praise for the Kano-sponsored pilots who trained in Jordan under a programme started by a previous administration. He said he was impressed by their outstanding performance and promised to keep creating opportunities for them.

For his part, the Chairman of the Kano State Pilot Association, Naziru Ibrahim, thanked the Governor for helping their members revalidate their flying licences, but he also made a little appeal.

“We appreciate Your Excellency for your continued support, particularly in helping our members revalidate their flying licences. We appeal for further assistance to enable them to obtain their final certifications, which will qualify them to operate commercial flights both within Nigeria and internationally,” he said.

So, if all goes to plan, we could be boarding a Kano Airline flight this time next year!
