"If we leave our children's future to government alone, we will fail." That was the blunt message from Kaduna State this weekend.
Governor Uba Sani was not mincing words at the opening of a new school facility in Ungwan Bulus, Sabon Tasha. The building, put up by Christian Academy Management, was inaugurated on Saturday, and the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Dr James Kanyip, used the moment to make a bigger point.
The maths, he said, simply does not add up for government to carry education by itself.
"The task of educating our children cannot be left to government alone. Meaningful progress requires collaboration among government, communities, faith-based organisations and private institutions. This is why we greatly value initiatives such as this one," Sani said, in the media report shared Monday.
He described the new facility as more than bricks and mortar, calling it a symbol of hope, opportunity and transformation for Kaduna.
His administration, he added, is actively looking for partners. Why? Because investing in young minds is still the surest route to lasting peace, prosperity and development.
He laid it out plainly:
Every classroom built creates opportunities for learning
Every child educated strengthens our communities
Every investment in education contributes to a more prosperous future for our state and nation
Sani said education sits at the top of his agenda because sustainable development starts with an educated and empowered population. Since taking office, his government has rolled out policies and programmes to fix infrastructure, expand access and improve quality, with one clear goal: to make education accessible, affordable and equitable for every child.
He also praised Christian Academy Management, noting the new centre will serve beyond Ungwan Bulus as a hub for learning, character formation and leadership development. He is confident it will help nurture young people with the knowledge, skills and values to become productive citizens.
Bottom line from the governor: government is ready to partner, but it cannot do it solo. Education is both a social responsibility and a strategic investment in human capital.
