The APC in Jigawa is cracking down hard on disloyalty, and this time a sitting federal lawmaker is caught in the net.
Well, it's getting messy in Jigawa politics. The All Progressives Congress there has suspended eight of its own, including a current member of the House of Representatives, over what it calls anti-party activities.
The big name on the list is Hon. Ibrahim Usman Auyo, who represents the Auyo, Kafin Hausa and Hadejia Federal Constituency. He’s not alone. Also suspended are the Auyo Local Government Vice-Chairman, Ibrahim Ayama, the party’s Deputy State Women Leader, Aisha Adamu Auyo, and five other local officials.
According to a statement signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Garba, and reported by cbinewstv, the party says their behaviour on May 26, 2026, in Auyo Local Government Area was detrimental to the unity, stability and progress of the APC.
The APC alleges that if proven, the actions would breach its constitution – think disloyalty, anti-party conduct, and moves capable of causing division in the ranks. The party says this is about protecting internal discipline and sending a clear signal.
The suspension is immediate. While it lasts, none of the eight can speak for the party, attend official meetings, or enjoy any of the privileges tied to their offices. Their fate now rests with the APC State Disciplinary Committee, which will investigate.
The party insists everyone will get a fair hearing in line with its constitution and the principles of natural justice.
This one will be worth watching. With a serving Reps member involved, the outcome could reshape the APC's power balance in Jigawa in the coming weeks.
