The move follows an internal review of centres used during the mock examination.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled to commence on April 16.
In a statement issued on Friday by JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, the Board explained that the affected centres were found to have significant technical deficiencies that could undermine the integrity and smooth conduct of the examination.
JAMB noted that the mock UTME, designed to help candidates familiarise themselves with the CBT format, also serves as a critical assessment tool to evaluate the readiness and performance of accredited centres nationwide.
According to the Board, findings from the mock exercise revealed that some centres failed to meet the required operational and technical standards.
As a result, decisive action was taken to ensure that only compliant and fully equipped centres participate in the main UTME.
In addition to the delisted centres, JAMB issued warnings to several others with minor technical issues, urging them to address the shortcomings promptly or risk further sanctions.
CBI News reports that the Board emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on inefficiency,as one CBT centre in Lagos has been permanently barred from participating in any future JAMB examinations, underscoring the Board’s commitment to maintaining strict quality control and protecting the credibility of its examination processes.
